  • The Principle
    • "Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking in the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord! Except in the Holy Spirit.
    • But there are distinctions of gifts, but the same Spirit; And there are distinctions of ministries, yet the same Lord; And there are distinctions of operations, but the same God, who operates all things in all" (1 Corinthians 12:3-6)
  • Speaking
    • Calling on the name of the Lord makes us one with the person of Christ. So also in any kind of prophesying when one speaks for God or speaks forth God as a minister of Christ, one does so by being in the person of Christ.
  • Different Ministries
  • Ministry
    • Ministry in Ephesians 4 is not related to the gifted ones
    • But to the ministries of each member of the Body
    • "And He Himself gave some (gifts)....for the perfecting of the saints...unto the work of ministry" (4:11-12)
  • Operating in and by means of the Holy Spirit
    • "I am crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.
    • And the life that I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." (Gal. 2:20)
    • Every operation must be inspired by the Spirit, be an impartation of the Spirit, and result in spiritual building up of the Body.
  • Three Levels of Function
    • Distinct Gifts
    • Distinct Ministries
    • Distinct Operations
  • So...
    • what has God given to you to carry out in the local church He has placed you in...
    • or are you running wild without substantiating this vision?
    • But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for what is profitable.
    • For to one through the Spirit a word of wisdom is given, and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
    • To a different one faith in the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing in the one Spirit,
    • And to another operations of works of power, and to another prophecy, and to another discerning of spirits; to a different one various kinds of tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. (1 Cor. 12:7-10)

  • Crucial Attitudes in the Body
    • Not honoring one's distinct portion
      • If the foot should say, Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body, it is not that because of this it is not of the body. (v 15)

    • Despising other's portions
      • And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you; nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. (v 21)
  • Crucial Attitudes in the Body
    • Mutual Care for One another
      • That there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same care for one another (v 25)
