We are a group of Christians who come from a number of different backgrounds. Our common denominator is a desire to know, love, and follow the living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His love has captured us, and in such a love we meet together with a church life according to the New Testament revelation. We are families and singles. We are young and old. We are workers at a variety of jobs along with college students. We come from many countries and cherish all races. But with this variety there is a marvelous oneness of the Spirit that we strive to keep. |

| Our Name | |
| Concerning our name, we consider all believers in Pittsburgh to be the church. To help keep the oneness among all the believers, we hold no special name, but simply call ourselves the church in Pittsburgh, which is what the early believers did. For example, when the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation, he referred to seven churches in seven cities, one of which was the church in Philadelphia. | |

| Our desire is to experience Christ and live the church life according to the truth revealed in the New Testament. We honor the Bible as the unique standard by which every teaching must be discerned. And, according to this guideline we appreciate teachings from many servants of Christ that God has used over the past 20 centuries. Some of these are: John Wycliffe, who boldly translated the Bible into his own language, setting a precedent for future translations: Martin Luther, who stood on the inerrant word of God, especially concerning the truth of justification by faith; John Calvin who wrote clearly concerning predestination; Nicolaus Zinzendorf who pioneered true fellowship with other believers; John Wesley who brought revival through unprecedented evangelical campaigns, J. N. Darby who enlightened us concerning the truth of God's church; A.B. Simpson who unveiled the preeminence of Christ; Andrew Murray who showed us the subjective experience of the Spirit of Christ; Watchman Nee and Witness Lee who brought us to experience a practical church life. Although we do not hold any man's teachings above the Bible, we welcome the spiritual insight that many such brethren in church history have contributed to the Body of Christ. |

Our Beliefs |
|
|
| The Bible We believe that the Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, complete (66 books), divinely inspired Word of God which defines the complete divine truth and reveals God's way of salvation. God We believe that God is one triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, three distinct but not separate Persons who coexist equally from eternity to eternity. The person and work of Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became incarnated to be a sinless man, born of the Virgin Mary, that he might be our redeemer and Savior. The Lord Jesus died for our sins on the cross and then rose from the dead on the third day both spiritually and physically. He then ascended to heaven to be the Lord of all and is coming again in the future. God's full salvation We believe that the Spirit of God is the Spirit of Truth sent by the Lord Jesus according to John 16, that this Spirit convicts the world of its sins, leads mankind to believe and thereby be born anew, and continues to sanctify and transform the believers into the image of God's Son. The Church We believe that the eternal purpose of God is to build His church. This church is the one unique, spiritual Body of Christ, composed of every believer. However, we believe that the Body should not be divided by non-essential doctrinal differences or personal preferences, but rather express a sincere and practical oneness in every city. |
Within the Church-life, there are fellowship groups that pertain to necessities for our growth in Christ. Currently, we have established three meeting groups for the believers, that help with some of the basic needs for the believers. These groups meet separately for the Lord's table and weekly fellowship meetings in order to build the body as a whole. It may appear segregated, that we meet as separate groups, but in actuality we stand together as one Body with similar portions. |

Testimony on Fellowship Groups |
|
"No one group is enough in itself. We need many crazy Jesus lovers to be in fellowship groups. With the group I currently fellowship with, I've found it to be a way of our serving the Lord and loving one another. Often times, our hearts are warmed up after an evening of resting in the bosom of the Father. It simply is a great way to end a busy week and gives a renewed focus to start a weekend by being connected with one another." |

| When & Where: On the Lord’s Day at the Penn Ave. Meeting Hall, 1st Floor. We meet at 10:00 am for the Jubilee... praising the Lord! Then at 11:30 am we continue on to the ministry of the Word. We have our Lord's table in the homes, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ in smaller groups. The exception is the first Lord’s Day of the month when all of the three fellowship groups meet together. |

| We gather together in the homes to remember the Lord at His table. The bread and the cup remind us of the Lord’s wonderful Person and His glorious work. By partaking of these symbols we declare His death, which redeemed us. We also look forward to His coming Kingdom. After the table we read the Word of God and speak to one another the words of admonition and exhortation. In this way we feed one another, strengthen one another, encourage one another, console one another, and build up one another. At the Lord’s table, Christ, Himself is displayed in symbols. The symbols usher us into the reality of eating and drinking the Lord as the Spirit. Christ is also the content of the living Word. By speaking to one another in spirit, we minister to one another the Christ we experience and enjoy. |

Lord's table Testimonies |
| "The Lord’s table always helps refocus me every week. It is both a praise to the Lord of what I gained of Him last week, and an encouragement to gain Him the next week. The Jubilee is enlightening and feeding when many brothers and sisters speak what they have enjoyed. It also motivates me to labor in the Word of God daily, so I also will have something edifying to speak to the church." |
Definition: bringing together of the called out ones of God
klesia - Greek for assembly. The word ekklesia is Greek for church, and is composed of ek, called out, and klesia, the assembly, hence the called out ones [of God]. Before the church existed, people were just the "agora", another Greek term for a motley assembly (mob). But God called out the church for Himself. Still, 2000 years later, God is calling us out to move past our differences and focus on Christ by exalting Him above all other things.
Synclesia is not our name, but the desire of our hearts. Jesus Christ said, "I will build My church." (Matt. 16:18) His church is composed of all those who have believed into Him, accepting His redeeming death on the cross and entering into a loving, obedient relationship with Him in His resurrection. Our hope is to focus our heart on Christ, exalting and loving Him above all else.
Through the centuries, Christians have been divided over teachings, practices, nationalities, and race. But the Lord desires that we would all be one. We believe there is only one church, one Body of Christ, and our desire is to help overcome the barriers between Christian groups.
We offer to students:

| Matthew 24:14 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations... Here is a compilation of testimonies and fellowship offered by some of the believers. Hopefully the sharing can cause a seeking in your heart for the Lord Jesus Christ |
"I was reared in a Christian home. When I was a small child, my grandmother read Bible stories to me. My dad taught me the hymn 'Onward Christian Soldiers'. My mother read the Bible and had prayer with me and my brother on Sunday mornings. When I was in the fourth grade, I attended a community Bible study for elementary school children. The children were usually very naughty and didn't listen; however, one time the teacher gave a very clear gospel message, and I heard it. Although I was only nine years old, I argued with her and said Jesus couldn't forgive me because I was too bad. Somehow between the time the class let out and I got home, faith entered my heart. When I arrived at home, I told my mother Jesus died for my sins. She told me to go forward in the denomination we attended. I did. From that time on, I knew that Jesus was my Savior. However, although I continued to attend religious services, I did not grow in the Lord’s life. Eventually I grew up, finished college and moved to another city to teach school. Because I had not grown as a Christian, I fell into an ungodly lifestyle for about five years. Because the Lord is faithful to keep His sheep, He didn’t allow me to continue in that life. He convicted me and made me feel utterly empty inside. I began to pray, 'Lord, deliver me'. He did. I had the opportunity to go forward in a Billy Graham Crusade. At that time, I prayed aloud and committed my life to Christ. After that my life changed. I began to live for Christ. I had a hunger for His Word. He led me to attend a Bible school. Since then, I have loved the Lord and fellowship with other believers who seek Him daily. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. If you would like more information about how to know this wonderful Christ, please feel free to contact me or my husband."

Later, I felt that the Spirit had touched my being. I got baptized on the following Sunday. Lord to keep my heart simple, pure, true to Him always." Related Verse: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8) "After I graduated and got a job, I experienced much loneliness and emptiness. Due to my dire search for friendship and connections, the Lord opened a way that I could meet with some Christians in Pittsburgh, PA. Through them, I experienced God's love for the first time in my life. As a result of my fellowship with these people, my appetite for spiritual understanding grew deeper each time we studied the Word. I believed in Jesus Christ and was baptized on 12/3/1989. Ever since that date, I have been wanting more of Him as He has indeed proven Himself to me that only 'He is the way, the truth, and the life.' (John 14:6)" Related Verse: "I have come that they may have life and may have it abundantly." (John 10:10b) More to come soon... |

| The following is an attempt to cover Frequently Asked Questions by believers and non-believers, to help with their seeking and understanding of the Lord and His will. More questions and answers will arrive through time as this is an on-going effort. |
| Questions many new believers and non-believers ask... |
| Q: If God is good, why is there so much suffering? |
A: Much of human suffering arises from choices that we have made apart from God’s will. Your parents might be good, but that didn’t help when you pressed your hand on that hot stove. The Bible teaches that suffering can ultimately be traced to Satan and his rebellion. But God desires to use sufferings to save man through Jesus Christ. |
| Q: All religions are the same - isn't it so? |
A: Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me." Religions attempt to lead you to God. Yet Christ is God becoming a man, to bring God to you. He is different! |
| Q: How do you know that you are following God's will? |
A: To know God’s will, we must first know God Himself. There are four basic ways to know God and His will: 1) through His word, the Bible; 2) through His Spirit dwelling in your spirit; 3) through the fellowship with other believers; and 4) through understanding His working in our environment. Humans have a "conscience" that, more often than not, "nudges" you when you are NOT following God's will. |
| Q: What do you mean "in" the spirit? How does that feel? |
A: If one can feel being "in" the spirit, it is often a sense of peace and joy. Being in spirit leads us to love Christ and to be drawn to fellowship with other believers. Being in spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit, including love, joy, and peace. When we are in spirit we love to pray, sing, and rejoice to the Lord, and are hungry for the word of God. In short, you feel you were meant for this. |
| Questions many would like to ask the Lord... |
| Q: Lord, when are you coming back? The age is getting more and more degrading. Many Christians suffer and struggle, waiting for His return. We welcome His return! |
| "When we have a thorough talk with the Lord and pour out our heart to Him, our intimacy with the Lord is one step further, and we know Him a little more. Intimate contact with Him at these times is hundreds of times better than our ordinary fellowship with Him. By these contacts we advance in life. We should bring our problems to the Lord and tell Him about them. He can comfort us and help us. If a person has never shed tears before the Lord, if he has never shared his joy or sorrow with the Lord, and if he has never talked with the Lord about his private matters, he has never had any deep acquaintance with Him. We are not saying that you cannot ask others to pray for you or ask others to help you. We are saying that one can only be drawn closer to the Lord through telling Him everything." |
