We are a group of Christians who come from a number of different backgrounds. Our common denominator is a desire to know, love, and follow the living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His love has captured us, and in such a love we meet together with a church life according to the New Testament revelation. We are families and singles. We are young and old. We are workers at a variety of jobs along with college students. We come from many countries and cherish all races. But with this variety there is a marvelous oneness of the Spirit that we strive to keep. |

| Our Name | |
| Concerning our name, we consider all believers in Pittsburgh to be the church. To help keep the oneness among all the believers, we hold no special name, but simply call ourselves the church in Pittsburgh, which is what the early believers did. For example, when the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation, he referred to seven churches in seven cities, one of which was the church in Philadelphia. | |

| Our desire is to experience Christ and live the church life according to the truth revealed in the New Testament. We honor the Bible as the unique standard by which every teaching must be discerned. And, according to this guideline we appreciate teachings from many servants of Christ that God has used over the past 20 centuries. Some of these are: John Wycliffe, who boldly translated the Bible into his own language, setting a precedent for future translations: Martin Luther, who stood on the inerrant word of God, especially concerning the truth of justification by faith; John Calvin who wrote clearly concerning predestination; Nicolaus Zinzendorf who pioneered true fellowship with other believers; John Wesley who brought revival through unprecedented evangelical campaigns, J. N. Darby who enlightened us concerning the truth of God's church; A.B. Simpson who unveiled the preeminence of Christ; Andrew Murray who showed us the subjective experience of the Spirit of Christ; Watchman Nee and Witness Lee who brought us to experience a practical church life. Although we do not hold any man's teachings above the Bible, we welcome the spiritual insight that many such brethren in church history have contributed to the Body of Christ. |
| The Bible We believe that the Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, complete (66 books), divinely inspired Word of God which defines the complete divine truth and reveals God's way of salvation. God We believe that God is one triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, three distinct but not separate Persons who coexist equally from eternity to eternity. The person and work of Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became incarnated to be a sinless man, born of the Virgin Mary, that he might be our redeemer and Savior. The Lord Jesus died for our sins on the cross and then rose from the dead on the third day both spiritually and physically. He then ascended to heaven to be the Lord of all and is coming again in the future. God's full salvation We believe that the Spirit of God is the Spirit of Truth sent by the Lord Jesus according to John 16, that this Spirit convicts the world of its sins, leads mankind to believe and thereby be born anew, and continues to sanctify and transform the believers into the image of God's Son. The Church We believe that the eternal purpose of God is to build His church. This church is the one unique, spiritual Body of Christ, composed of every believer. However, we believe that the Body should not be divided by non-essential doctrinal differences or personal preferences, but rather express a sincere and practical oneness in every city. |
